Update!

Sorry I have been so terrible at keeping this updated! Here are Elder Mellor's letters from the last three weeks!

7/8/13

I don't really have much to say this week, because not much has happened.  I did have a thought that you guys should do a spiritual thought after dinner as a family.  That would be really cool I think.

Pretty much all that is new is that I got some answers to some questions I was having about stuff.

Oh ya the 4th of July, I forgot about that.  All we did was go over to a members house for 4 hours and ate and talked since we had to stop proselyting early due to the holiday and drunk crazy people.  I was a little disappointed since we didn't do any fireworks or dessert, but that family is pretty hilarious so it was all good.  Although the night before the city we live in (Charleroi) had a firework show from the river and we had really good seats to it from our apartment.

My root canal went good, mostly because they only did a little bit of it.  All they did was drill out the nerves so I wasn't in so much pain and gave me a script for some vicodin just in case.   My next appointment is on the 25th and I am super excited about it!  It is so amazingly wonderful and makes me so happy I can drink things without hurting myself now!

Sometime today I am planning on cutting my hair again, because the sides are getting a little long and I keep getting little hairs sticking up.  I am hoping that this will help, but If it does not then I will have to get it cut and thinned out professionally.  I hope I don't have to because I don't want to spend the $11 it costs to get my hair cut.
These are some brownies that Elder Mellor attempted with marshmallows!

7/15/13

We went on exchanges this week and we had an Elder Cody Harper come to our area and work with us.  He is really awesome!  He is a lot like me, he has ADHD and Hypoglycemia. He also likes video games!  It was so nice to meet someone who has similar  likes as me.  He also introduced me to something to do at Wendy's it is called The Baconator Challenge.  You get a medium combo (fries and drink) and a triple Baconator and the point is to see if you can eat it all without throwing up.  He couldn't do it.  I was going to but I didn't know you had to get the fries and drink part, so that would be fun to do when I get back.

It rained really hard this last week too, it even started flooding in some areas!  I loved it, especially driving in it (technically riding since I wasn't driving)!  Also there are slugs here, they are really small and slim and look like worms.  I wanted to see if salting a slug really melted it, because I didn't believe that it would.  Well it definitely worked that is for sure!  I also felt really bad for it because it was really gross and sad.

I finally finished Jesus the Christ and it didn't take quite as long as I thought it would.  I am on to my last book now The Biography of Thomas S. Monson.  It is really good and I get this special spirit whenever I read about him and I know that he is a great guy.

I had most of my root canal done, I just need to go in and see him one more time and I will be done!  I can't wait to get it over with.  Although it isn't that painful or anything.

Here's Elder Mellor's explanation of this picture: I learned that I can fit in between the small hole for the armrests, so I got a picture of it!

7/22/13

I sent my cacti home because I think that they are considered a pet and we are not allowed to have pets.  I also have a container of cactus food that I am unsure of what to do with over here.  I think that I accidentally put my name on both addresses because I wasn't paying attention, so open it even though my name is on it please.   And please take good care of them for me so they can be big and strong when I get back.  Be careful when replanting the one not in a pot he bites (and by bites I mean he will stab you if you touch him so use gloves).  If you can, somewhere in the front yard would be nice, send me pictures of them when you get them all situated.  Thanks!

So it has been raining off and on all week over here and we were talking to some less actives outside their fence and it started pouring pretty hard.  Not like flooding hard, but pretty hard.  So we got soaked and had to change before we went to dinner that day.  For dinner a member had 50$ in gift cards to a place called Hoss's and it is pretty much a steak and seafood house.  So he took us there and it was amazing!  I had a steak they called the Flat Iron.  It was a steak with this yummy garlic and butter sauce on top of it.  I tasted garlic and Italian seasonings too in it too by the way.  Also it came with a side of fries which were all right.  Plus it came with access to the salad/dessert bar.  The dessert was really good and I ate too much and felt a little bit sick afterwards, you know like your supposed to.

Is there anything cool I can do with these prescription bottles that are empty or should I just toss them?  I already tossed what I had I was just wondering for the future.

Next week will be transfers and splitting the area, I am so excited for it.  A lot of that excitement comes from me not having to be with my current companions.  So we are going to be getting a new apartment in the other area.  Also the person in the current apartment we have will be moving into a new one too at the end of August, so there are a lot of new changes coming to this area.

I forgot to mention in my last email about the Thunder and lightning here.  It is a noise that is just not made in Arizona.  I will do my very best to describe it.  It is rumbly and crackly and rolling, and it sounds really cool I really enjoy them!  A lot of the time you hear it when it isn't even raining and you just hear this cool noise out of nowhere and look up and see the clouds, sometimes you cant even see the clouds.

When I read President Monson's Biography I feel this special spirit of this great man, and I know for sure that he was called to be a prophet of God.

Also on Thursday I will finally be finished with my Root Canal, I am really excited for that, and I haven't had to use my Vicodon once yet, so hopefully it will stay good.

Also Mom and Dad did you ever get the letter I sent to you with the picture of my whole mission and Elder Bednar?

This on cracked me up! Here's Elder Mellor's caption: There is a California, PA and this is the sign for the city.  It is funny because there is a state called California.

Again, Elder mellor's caption is better than anything I could come up with: I accidentally stuck my finger in a fan and that is the result, but you cant really see it because my camera doesn't work too well without natural light.  I will try to get a better picture of it.  it even bruised my fingernail.

I guess this was a cool paint job that he thought was cool? haha

Pretty Scenery!

More beautiful scenery! Elder Mellor says his camera doesn't do justice to how beautiful it is.

Ok, this just cracked me up. Here's Elder Mellor's comment: I circled the cuts and stuff so maybe you could see them The tip of my fingernail is a bruise  the other two circles are cuts that look like scratches.  It cut through the first layer of my skin completely.  Good thing I have two more.

Weekly Update!

I gave blood this week, I think it was on Friday.  It was an interesting experience.  They had to move the needle around to find a vain and that was really annoying and hurt a little more than I thought it would.  Not that it hurt, I just thought I would barely feel it and was surprised.  We got cookies and muffins afterwards.  How we found out about it was we were volunteering at the hospital and some one asked us if we wanted to donate blood and we said sure.

There is a city in my area and it has a really weird name.  The name of the city (I kid you not) is Eighty-Four, like the number.  It is a really small town that doesn't really have much in it and it is named after a construction company or something.  I always make fun of it, although we almost never go through it.

I learned of this kind of flower that grows around here on trees that are really cool.  They are called Mimosa (not sure how to spell it this is what auto-correct says).  They are really pretty and look a little like fireworks, but the best part is they smell really good!  Also I was told of a flower that is supposedly common around here called Hibiscus (again don't know how to spell it).  All I know is that it looks like a Hawaiian flower and it tastes good.  So I want to find one and eat it.  I also think they sold them on that thinkgeek website.

During Zone Conference I got a little birthday bag with candy in it, because it was my birthday forever ago.  My favorite part about it was that there was a really sweet pen in the bag too and it works great and I love these pens.  I like it because the tip is really fine and I can write small with it, those kinds of pens are the best for missionaries because we have to write in small boxes in all our paperwork and everything else.  We write a lot, usually in our planner which has little room to write.

I cannot wait till next transfer (about 4 more weeks) because our area is getting split and me and my companion will each take an area, and split up since we know it.  Anyway the reason I cant wait for it is because I really don't like my current companion(s) (my other one got is visa and is leaving to Brazil on the 30th).  The visa one isn't so bad except for the fact that he doesn't believe in soap.  Or cleaning in general, so I have to do most of it.  He literally thinks that it is pretty much a conspiracy and a waste of money.  He claims that hot water does a better job at killing them and soap just moves the germs around.  So he just uses as hot of water as he can and calls it good.  He convinced the other one to do the same and I am the only one that uses soap now.

The other one is really immature, annoying, and obnoxious (I am not saying that because I dislike him but because it is a fact and he admits/ told us it).  He is one of those people that went out when he was 18 (only for two months though).  He also says that he gets joy out of annoying people and does it to us all the time (mostly me since the other one is pretty immature too), I thought I would be able to get away from all of that since I left home.  They also talk all night for what seems forever even though it isn't too long while I am trying to sleep and they are laying down with the lights off.  Also they are not very diligent and will not Tract after 7 PM even if it means just sitting around at home, because he "doesn't want to bother people".

Anyways that felt good to vent that all out.

I have my dentist appointment today at 2 and we will see what they say.  The good news is that my teeth haven't been hurting as bad this week, but that is also bad because what am I going to tell the dentist?

I have been playing Munchkins and it is a lot of fun.  There are also a ton of different add-ons that look like a lot of fun! My companions and I are going to try and see if we can track them down, but  we probably wont be able to.  There arent very many places that sell card games like that.  Only one card shop in my area that I know of might have it although it would probably just be the original.  So with that train of thought I think the only place to get these cool add-ons would be online, which we are not allowed to visit non-LDS site.  So we will probably in the end just have to be content with what we have.

With my other book finished I am now starting on Jesus the Christ and am on page about 500 out of about 700 so I am almost done!  Then I will start on Thomas S. Monson's biography.
